North to South: A Journey Through The Okanagan Valley

  • Gallery Vertigo 3105 28th Avenue Vernon, BC, V1T 8Y4 Canada (map)

From forests to vineyards, lakes to streams, mountains to deserts, much of the magic of the Okanagan is derived from its variety.

Emerging artists Aimee Baerg and Melanie Fenton, residing on opposite ends of the Okanagan Valley, have come together for an exhibition celebrating the uniqueness and diversity of the Okanagan landscape.

The exhibition, titled “North to South: A Journey Through the Okanagan Valley” will take the viewer on a visual journey through the diverse landscapes of the Okanagan. The original paintings will be on display at Gallery Vertigo in Vernon throughout the month of May.

Aimee is a landscape and floral painter who works with acrylic paint. She has lived most of her life in Vernon and is recognized for her colourful Okanagan landscapes.

Melanie is an oil and mixed media painter based in Peachland who captures her experiences in nature through landscape and abstract art. She only recently moved to the Okanagan and has fallen in love with the way that nature overlaps with everyday life so easily in this place.

Aimee and Melanie have been dreaming up ways to collaborate over their love of the Okanagan landscape since they first met in 2020. This exhibition features work by both artists representing the remarkable transformation of the landscape from north to south, highlighting the diversity and the similarities throughout. Baerg and Fenton hope to bring the whole of the Okanagan together in a sense of belonging, community, adventure, and appreciation for the beautiful valley we are privileged to call home.

The exhibition will hang at Gallery Vertigo in Vernon from May 3-28 with an opening reception on Friday May 6 from 6-8pm
